Originally opened in 2007, Onsen is proudly New Zealand owned and operated, offering a unique kiwi twist to a Japanese bathing tradition.

Located at 162 Arthurs Point Rd, Arthurs Point, the Onsen complex offers a high-quality boutique retreat and day spa experience. Perched on the cliffs overlooking the magnificent Shotover River and amidst a stunning mountain range, this old gold miner’s town is just 10mins from Queenstown or 13km from Arrowtown making it a convenient, tranquil escape from the more action packed, adrenaline filled activities and winery offerings in the region.

In addition to the beautiful exclusive use cedar hot tubs with breathtaking views that we are world renowned for, Onsen is also home to a tranquil day spa with high quality therapists delivering an extensive range of face and body treatments for women and men. With the option to book either our exclusive use cedar hot pools or a hot tub and spa package, we offer the best in pure indulgence.

Welcoming you on arrival is a large airy reception and waiting area which provides a cosy, comfortable environment for relaxing and our outdoor sundeck has one of the most impressive views in the whole of Queenstown, so expect to spend a little time before or after your soak taking it all in!

Each of our 14 classic, world renowned cedar-lined hot pools can accommodate up to 4 adults comfortably, whereas our new private oval tubs have been designed to create a bespoke soak and spa experience for couples or individuals.

Throughout the facility there are beautifully appointed changing rooms and all pool rooms are equipped with their own shower so you can rinse off before and after your soak.

Please note that we are set below the level of the road and there are a number of steps to reach us. We do have a track leading down, and while not steep it is long.
